The Lakers are bad because they’re a poorly constructed team

湖人很烂是因为他们确实是一支结构很差的球队啊。

They’re not losing because they’re in a “toxic” environment. They’re not losing as a result of trade deadline drama. Lakers discourse on this sub and in the national media is astounding, surely because Lebron is on the team and demands disproportionate media attention. I’m a Lebron fan, but the Lakers struggles do not surprise me in any way. The reason the Lakers are bad is because the way Magic and Pelinka built the team is obviously flawed.

Lebron + shooting has been a formula that has worked for the past 8 years. Lonzo is shooting 33% from three. Ingram doesn’t shoot, and he must be wide open. Rondo will only take wide open threes. The Lakers let Lopez walk and signed McGee who can’t and won’t shoot. Chandler won’t shoot. Their “shooters,” Kuzma, Hart, and KCP, are shooting a collective 33% from three. Lebron is playing on a team where he is the best three point shooter and people are looking for reasons the team is mediocre. It’s a team built for ‘90s basketball in 2019.

It’s interesting to me that everyone recognized the design flaws in this team over the offseason but now they’re losing because “Lebron is toxic.” I suppose that’s because they started 20-14, but even when they were winning their offense was unspectacular, especially in the half court. This Lakers team has more talent than last years Cavs but the Cavs fit better.

The blame lies with the front office

勒布朗+投手在过去八年都被证明是一个很棒的赢球途径，但是湖人的鲍尔三分球33%，英格拉姆除非大空位不然根本不投三分，隆多同样如此。湖人让洛佩斯离开而签下了一个不会投篮的麦基，钱德勒不投篮，他们所谓的投手——库兹马、哈特以及波普，三分球命中率不过33%，勒布朗竟然是这支球队最棒的三分投手，人们都在寻找这支球队为什么打得不好的原因，但实际上这支球队就是一支在2019年还打着90年代篮球的球队。

我比较感兴趣的是实际上每个人在休赛期都看到了湖人这支球队的缺陷，但是现在每个人都觉得“勒布朗才是那个多”，我想这是因为他们开局20胜14负，但是实际上这支球队当时的进攻也不强啊，尤其是半场进攻。当然湖人这支球队的天赋高于去年骑士，但是明显骑士更适配詹姆斯啊。

所以责任应该是前台制服组的吧。

It literally used to be a meme on here that hes basically a complete dumbass. Everyone looks for more complicated reasons why a guy would sign javale McGee, rajon rondo, and lance Stephenson to the same team when the reason is just that magic is a moron

Not to disagree, but ultimately not having players that can make shots is a sign of a poorly constructed team. They have not drafted, traded for, developed or signed shooters. It was not a priority, obviously. Letting Lopez walk, going with Rondo and Stephenson over the summer, and so on.

So, yes, I agree, the players have to make the shots but ultimately the team decides on their players, particularly concerning drafts and trades.

Their three main young guys shoot a combined 32% from 3.

Even if they had better free agent signings, that's three starters who are below average from long range.

No one wants to address this because it means giving Lonzo a lot of credit for our earlier success, which again no one wants to do. He is a vital piece for this team and I hope we don't trade him or Ingram because otherwise we'll be the worst defensive team in the league. Davis with Jrue on the Pelicans is still an awful defensive team, he won't clean up our mess if we trade all our good defenders.

I don't know why this is not brought up more often. Lakers were winning then he left and golden state started winning, now the clippers are winning with no stars.

I still have no goddamn idea what Magic was doing this summer. Letting Lopez and Randle walk when the front court desperately needed depth was such a weird choice. In a conference with Jokic, Cousins, AD, KAT, Adams, Aldrige, and two Gasols you can't start JaVale McGee and skinny-ass Kyle Kuzma up front.

He actually did take a rebuilding franchise hostage for his own reasons.

He didn't "wreck" the team in the sense that it was already a bad team, but he did "wreck" their rebuild just by signing with the Lakers.

The team went from needing to win in 3 or 4 years, to needing to win right away. I'm not saying he screwed up the Lakers in any way, but he did throw a huge wrench in their entire team setup.

I think it's much simpler than that. The Lakers are in the position they're in because LeBron missed almost 20 games, on top of the other player injuries.

The roster is goofy but it was only meant to last one season anyway, and to clear cap space for this off-season. They were still pretty solid when healthy and the Lakers would be in a much better spot right now had LeBron not missed all those games.

They went 6-12 without LeBron. If LeBron played all these games and their record was 9-9 in those then their overall record would be 32-27, good for 7th in the West.

I’ll insist injuries are bigger issue until the day I die, but everyone has injuries. This is really accurate. In the defense of our front office, I’m not sure anyone foresaw the combination of KCP, Kuz, and Hart shooting that poorly this year.
